Uma Pemmaraju currently serves as anchor for FOX News Channel’s (FNC) America’s News Headquarters (Saturdays 12-1PM/ET). She joined the network in 1996 and is based in New York.
Most recently, Pemmaraju provided live coverage of George Zimmerman’s murder trial. She has also reported on the aftermath of the deadly EF5 tornado in Moore, OK, the Boston Marathon bombings and the 2004, 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. Additionally, Pemmaraju has secured interviews with many public figures, including astronaut Buzz Aldrin, American televangelist Joel Osteen, actress Whoopi Goldberg and the Dalai Lama. Pemmaraju also hosted the FNC special, A Special for Young People, which featured top newsmakers offering advice on life challenges to young adults in March 2011.
Prior to joining FNC, Pemmaraju was a news anchor and special correspondent at KTVT-TV (CBS 11) in Dallas, Texas, an anchor and correspondent for WBZ-TV (CBS 4) in Boston, MA and a producer for the syndicated show, The Evening Magazine. In addition to her television career, Pemmaraju served as a reporter for the San Antonio Express News and taught journalism at Emerson College and Harvard University.
Named one of Spotlight Magazine's "20 Intriguing Women of 1998," Pemmaraju was the first Indian-American anchor to regularly appear on national television. In addition to being coined as "Boston's Best Anchor" in 1996 and 1997 by Boston Magazine, she has received several Emmy awards for her reporting and investigative journalism. Other accolades throughout her career include the Texas Associated Press Award for reporting in 2002, the Woman of Achievement Award from the Big Sisters Organization of America and the Matrix Award from Women in Communications.
Pemmaraju graduated with a B.A. in political science from Trinity University in Texas.
