Prosecutors at a central Pennsylvania man's murder trial say he tried to cover up the killing of his wife by making her drowning look like an all-terrain vehicle accident.

Investigators say 42-year-old Joseph Fitzpatrick drowned his 43-year-old wife, Annemarie, in a Chanceford Township creek in 2012, but he told police they crashed their ATV in the water. York County prosecutors say an autopsy revealed bruises and other injuries on Annemarie's body.

Prosecutors say Fitzpatrick wanted out of his marriage, was having an extramarital affair and had a $1.7 million life insurance policy on his wife.

Fitzpatrick's lawyers say there's no evidence Annemarie died by force or murder.

Chanceford Township is about 40 miles southeast of Harrisburg.
