Court documents say police found blood, cellphone linking suspect to slain Indiana student

Court documents released after a man was charged in the slaying of an Indiana University student say investigators found blood in the suspect's vehicle and discovered his cellphone next to the woman's body.

A probable cause affidavit released Monday says IU senior Hannah Wilson was last seen around 1 a.m. getting into a taxi alone outside a bar in Bloomington, Indiana, after friends determined she was too intoxicated to stay out.

The 22-year-old Wilson's body was found later that morning in Brown County, about 10 miles from the IU campus. The coroner says she had been struck four times in her head, crushing her skull.

Forty-nine-year-old Daniel E. Messel of Bloomington has been arrested and faces a preliminary charge of murder. A court appearance was scheduled Monday afternoon.
