A video posted online this week that purportedly shows a police officer talking about killing two people is under investigation, police said.
The video showed an unidentified Weiser police officer talking with 19-year-old Jacqueline Aldrich on Aug. 30 after a disturbance report at a motel, KBOI-TV reported Tuesday.
At the end of the video, the officer is heard saying: "Mouthy little (expletive) oh my (expletive) God. If I can get away with it I would have put a bullet in the center of each one of their heads."
A second person was heard laughing in the background.
Shane Darrington, an attorney representing Aldrich, told the station he discovered the officer’s comments during a request for the audio and evidence. He said the video had been edited for time.
"Frankly, it was scary," Darrington said. "Somebody in a position of power saying something like that, even if it's an off the cuff comment, it's something that should not have been said."
Aldrich was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia initially, but it was later dropped. She has had a previous run-in with Weiser police. She had been arrested for minor in possession and misdemeanor battery on two officers, KBOI-TV reported.
Darrington posted the video on YouTube and said the conduct wasn’t isolated for the officer in question.
“I wanted the community to know this conduct was happening," he said. "And I wanted to know ...does the community condone it?"
Weiser police released a statement later Tuesday and had to deactivate their Facebook page because of the “vulgar” comments they were receiving.
"We are aware of the situation with the YouTube video concerning the adult female. The matter is currently under review. We cannot make any further comments at the present time, as it is a personnel matter."
