A 7-year-old boy was killed and his little sister and father were injured when an SUV plowed into a fast food restaurant in the Bronx, police said.

It happened at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Kennedy's Chicken and Sandwiches.

A Mercedes SUV driven by a 73-year-old man reversed into the restaurant's front window, striking three patrons seated inside, a 34-year-old man, his 7-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter, according to police.

"We came running over here, you see the little boy on the table with glass all over him, you see the little girl crying for her mom and everybody was going crazy like what just happened," eyewitness Giovanni Martinez told WABC-TV.

"The little girl was pinned, so pedestrians, staff members, NYPD, rescue workers unbolted the table from the floor to unpin the little girl," said Sheila Clark.

All three were taken to a local hospital. The boy, identified as Ethan Villavicencio, of the Bronx, was pronounced dead, police said. The father and daughter were listed in stable condition.

Police said the driver fled the scene but was stopped a short time later by traffic enforcement agents. The unidentified driver is currently in police custody.

The investigation is continuing.
