NEW YORK -- A mother and her two young children are in serious but stable condition after their throats were slashed at their Staten Island home.
The children's father also had neck wounds and was pronounced dead.
New York City police say sharp bloodied instruments, including scissors and knives, were found on the scene Sunday.
Officers responded after getting a call of a violent dispute there.
Police say the woman told officers that her live-in boyfriend had attacked her, their 18-month-old son and 3-year-old daughter. Police say the man then barricaded himself in the house with the 3 year old.
After failing to make contact with him, officers broke in and found the man in the kitchen with his neck slashed. The 3-year-old was found in a bedroom.
