LOS ALAMOS, N.M. – The top official at Los Alamos National Laboratory says he will retire in June.
Lab director Michael Anastasio made the announcement Wednesday in a message to employees of the northern New Mexico lab. He also thanked the employees for their accomplishments and continued support over the years.
Anastasio has served as director since June 2006. He also is president of Los Alamos National Security, LLC, the company that manages and operates the lab for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration.
The board of governors at Los Alamos National Security plans to immediately commence a search for a successor to ensure a reasonable transition.
