A police chase through Houston Wednesday ended with a fatal shooting.

The chase began around 8 a.m. local time when the suspect -- who has not been identified -- refused to pull over for officers. It is not clear what sparked the chase, but it is believed that the man was wanted for a burglary at an apartment, although police have not yet commented, KHOU reports.

The suspect led officers to an area near the intersection of Fuqua St. and Featherwood Drive in southeast Houston. He stopped and ignored officers' commands for about 10 minutes.

An officer then released a K9, which attacked the suspect, Fox 26 reports. Officers moved in on the suspect and four shots were fired, witnesses told the Houston Chronicle. A sheet was placed over the suspect’s body.

No police officers were injured in the incident.
