HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- A federal court jury in Alabama has convicted a man of sex trafficking involving a 15-year-old girl from Mexico.

The TimesDaily of Florence, Alabama, reports that the jury deliberated less than 30 minutes Wednesday before finding 31-year-old Manuel Enrique Zelaya-Rodriguez guilty of trafficking an underage girl for sex, coercing a minor to engage in prostitution, harboring an illegal alien and failing to report an illegal alien in his employment.

U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance said the prosecution put an end to a case of "modern-day slavery."

Zelaya-Rodriguez faces a sentence of 10 years to life in prison.

Florence police arrested Zelaya-Rodriguez last September with the 15-year-old girl in his car.

The arrest occurred near a trailer park where residents had complained about prostitution.
