An Air Force Academy airman who was awarded a Bronze Star for his actions in Iraq from 2006-2007 now has another.

On Friday, Maj. Brent McGuire received a Bronze Star for his work as commander of the 451st Security

Forces Squadron during his deployment to Afghanistan last year.

Military officials say that under hostile fire, his teams secured more than 220 flying missions, protecting more than 6,000 passengers and enabling the delivery of more than 2,000 tons of supplies to combat forces. They say McGuire's tactical team conducted counter-threat operations around Kandahar Airfield and also collected intelligence.

KRDO-TV in Colorado Springs reports McGuire said he's humbled to get the award.

He is a reservist with the 10th Security Forces Squadron.
