Wow! Lehigh shocks second-seeded Duke

Greensboro, NC – After a relatively quiet Thursday, the NCAA Tournament got wild on Friday.

Following 15th-seeded Norfolk State's shocking victory over No. 2 Missouri earlier in the day, fellow 15 seed Lehigh upset No. 2 Duke, 75-70, in a South Region thriller.

It was the first time two No. 15 seeds won in the same year in NCAA history.

"I told our guys we really needed to suspend disbelief," said Lehigh head coach Brett Reed in a televised courtside interview. "The only thing that really mattered was that we had confidence and belief in ourselves."

C.J. McCollum fueled the Mountain Hawks (27-7) with a game-high 30 points, six rebounds and six assists. Gabe Knutson provided 17 points and eight boards while Mackey McKnight scored 11 for Lehigh, which won its first ever NCAA Tournament game.

The Hawks will take a shot at their second tourney victory Sunday when they play the winner of Friday's later matchup between Xavier and Notre Dame.

Mason Plumlee posted 19 points and 12 rebounds and Austin Rivers scored 19 for the Blue Devils (27-7), whose last loss in the round of 64 came to the Eric Maynor-led VCU Rams in 2007.
