Seattle, WA – The Seattle Mariners placed starter Hisashi Iwakuma on the 15-day disabled list on Friday.
Iwakuma has been dealing with a right lat strain, which could be a reason behind his slow start to the season. In three starts, the 34-year-old righty has pitched to a 6.61 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP.
He has given up five homers over 16 1/3 innings, compared to the 20 he surrendered in 179.0 innings last season.
To fill Iwakuma's spot on the roster, the Mariners recalled reliever Lucas Luetge from Triple-A Tacoma.
