The first of the redesigned 2024 Ford Mustang GTs will be built for a good cause.

The rights to purchase the VIN001 car will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson collector car event in Scottsdale, Arizona, this month for charity.

All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, and there could be a lot.

The event has hosted many million-dollar charity auctions in recent years, including the first of the latest Ford Broncos, which went for $1,075,000 in 2021 to support the National Forest Foundation and Outward Bound.

The winner of the Mustang auction will be able to order the car with the color and options of their choice, including whether they would like the six-speed manual transmission that is still available or a 10-speed automatic.

Either way, the car will come with a 486 hp 5.0-liter V8 that makes it the most-powerful Mustang GT ever offered.

It is not the most-powerful 5.0-liter Mustang, however. That title will belong to the Mustang Dark Horse, which is a new higher performance trim that will have at least 500 ponies under its hood to go along with a stable of handling and aerodynamic upgrades.
