Prosecutors say a 14-year-girl has been charged with murder in the shooting death of another teenager on Chicago's South Side.

Authorities won't release the name of the girl because of her age, but say a detention hearing is scheduled for Monday.

The teenager is charged in the death of 14-year-old Endia Martin. Police say Martin was with other teenagers Monday afternoon in the Back of the Yards neighborhood when someone in the group pulled a gun and started shooting.

A second girl was shot in the arm, but her injury is not considered life-threatening.

Martin's stepfather, Kent Kennedy, tells the Chicago Sun-Times that the girl wasn't involved with gangs and had never been in trouble with police.

He told WMAQ-TV that the girl's death was "cold-blooded and senseless."
