EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern University's medical school has received a $92 million donation to pursue regenerative medicine.
The Chicago Tribune reports Thursday (http://trib.in/1M96kud ) that the money comes from Louis Simpson and his wife, Kimberly Querrey. It will go to support programming at the university's new biomedical research center.
The center will be part of the academic medical campus in Chicago and will be named for the couple. Construction will begin later this year on the site of the former Prentice Women's Hospital. Simpson is a Northwestern graduate and he and his wife have previously donated funds to the school.
In January, billionaire investor Warren Buffett's sister donated $100 million to Northwestern to create a global studies program.
