A 52-year-old Connecticut man was stabbed to death after a fight that began over spilled coffee.
The New York Daily News reports that Antonio Muralles was leaving a McDonald’s in downtown Stamford when he bumped into a 15-year-old boy, accidentally spilling a cup of coffee on him.
“It looks like the victim tried to apologize to get away from these guys,” said Stamford police Lt. Dietrich Hohn. “Unfortunately, the 15-year-old juvenile was the instigator and kept going at him.”
The unidentified boy and friends who were outside with him beat Muralles with a stick before stabbing him. An EMS team was responding to an unrelated call shortly after 8:15 p.m. before they noticed Muralles collapsed on the corner of Broad and Bedford Streets, locally known to be unsafe. He was rushed to the hospital where he died of his injuries a little past 1:00 a.m., police say.
According to the New York Post, the unidentified 15-year-old and James McLamb, 22, were arrested and charged with first degree murder. Police are currently searching for a third suspect.
McLamb had been arrested on an unrelated weapons charge Saturday and was arraigned Monday. He's held in lieu of $2 million bon and has yet to enter a plea. The 15-year-old’s arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
