A Korean War veteran's remains have been returned to his family, nearly 60 years after his last letter home, SunTimes.com reports.

Army Cpl. Stanley Arendt sounded optimistic in his letter to his parents, dated October 1950 -- but on Nov. 2, he and nine other soldiers were captured and executed, the paper reports.

Arendt was one of more than 350 U.S. servicemen unaccounted for.  In 2004, a group that assists in recovering lost soldiers found a grave in which many Americans were buried,  SunTimes.com reports.

After receiving a positive match from Arendt's family's dental records, his remains were sent home to Palatine, Texas.

He is set to receive a full military honors burial on Monday.
