Husband Charged After Remains Found of Missing N.J. Mom
A New Jersey man has been charged with killing his wife after police discovered her remains in a 55-gallon cement-filled drum in the apartment building where they once lived
Prosecutors says Steven Acuna faces murder charges after police found the remains of Randy "Amanda" Lehrer on Friday in the basement of a Jersey City building where she lived with her husband and infant daughter.
Police say Acuna reported Lehrer missing on Aug. 17 after an argument. Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio says investigators believe the killing was "a domestic violence situation."
DeFazio says Acuna relocated to Toms River after Lehrer went missing. There was no telephone listing for Acuna.
Acuna is being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1 million bail. It's not known if he has retained an attorney.
About 200 people gathered Saturday evening for a candlelight vigil held outside the apartment building.
