TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Grand jurors called actions of police "heroic" and cleared five officers of all wrongdoing in killing a gunman who shot at students at a Florida State University library.
Authorities say that early on Nov. 20, 31-year-old Myron May shot into the crowded library. Three bullets struck 21-year-old student Farhan "Ronny" Ahmed, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.
A Leon County grand jury on Tuesday heard from witnesses and went over physical evidence collected at Strozier Library.
In a brief four-page report, jurors praised the prompt response of a dispatcher and the actions by police. The report states there could have been more casualties if police had not acted so quickly.
