A 27-year-old Florida man accused of falsely claiming he had dynamite aboard a trans-Atlantic flight has been indicted on two charges by a federal grand jury.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Derek Stansberry, of Riverview, Fla., is scheduled to be arraigned July 28 in U.S. District Court in Bangor. He was indicted on charges of interfering with flight crew members and attendants and giving false information and making threats.

Prosecutors say Stansberry passed a note to a flight attendant that said he had a fake passport and told federal air marshals that he had dynamite aboard a Paris-to-Atlanta flight on April 27. The flight was diverted to Bangor, Maine,

His attorney contends his actions were out of character and says he has no criminal record.

He is free on $20,000 bail.
