The Toronto Maple Leafs placed defenseman Michael Liles on injured reserve with concussion-like symptoms.

TSN of Canada revealed the news on Tuesday, that the 31-year-old will be shut down for several days as a precaution.

Liles was already suffering from a neck injury apparently suffered when he absorbed a hit from Sabres forward Paul Gaustad last Thursday.

He was not feeling well enough to practice on either Monday or Tuesday, and following Tuesday's practice the decision was made to place Liles on IR according to TSN.

Liles has led a Leafs resurgence, totaling four goals and 21 points in 34 games this season, his first with Toronto.
