Lane successfully defends Scottish Senior Open title

Barry Lane posted a six-under 66 on Sunday to successfully defend his only European Senior Tour title at the Scottish Senior Open.

Lane finished at 14-under 202 and won by two strokes at Fairmont St. Andrews.

Gary Koch, most known for his work as an NBC analyst, carded a five-under 67 and took second at minus-12.

Second-round co-leader and two-time winner this season Peter Fowler only managed a two-under 70 and shared third place with Van Lanschot Senior Open winner Des Smyth, who had a 67 on Sunday. The pair finished at 10-under 206.

Lane notched two birdies on his front side and was tied with Koch, who tallied three birdies on his opening nine. Lane birdied 11 and 12 to move ahead, then Koch bogeyed 13 to fall three back.

Koch rallied with back-to-back birdies at 14 and 15 and trailed by one.

Lane closed the door on Koch's chances with an eagle at the last. Koch made birdie to lose by a stroke.

Carl Mason shot a three-under 69 and took fifth at minus-eight, which was one shot better than Mark James, whose five-under 67 on Sunday gave him sixth place.

Former Masters champion Ian Woosnam (70) and Ross Drummond (68) tied for seventh at six-under 210.
