Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Indians have purchased the contract of pitcher Bruce Chen from Triple-A Columbus and designated pitcher Anthony Swarzak for assignment.

The 37-year-old Chen will start Saturday against the Minnesota Twins. This will be his 2015 debut. So far in the minors, Chen has posted a 2-1 record with a 1.74 ERA, 23 strikeouts and three walks in 31 innings of work.

Chen appeared in 13 games for Kansas City last season, which included seven starts and a 2-4 record. He will play for his 11th big league team.

Swarzak had a 3.38 ERA in 10 relief appearances this season.
