New York City does not need Spider-Man or even The Avengers -- it has Ryan Gosling, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

A British journalist reported that she was "saved" from being hit by a taxi cab in Manhattan on Tuesday by the "Blue Valentine" actor.

"I literally, LITERALLY just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling. That actually just happened," Laurie Penny of the New Statesman wrote on Twitter. "I was crossing 6th avenue in a new pink wig. Not looking the right way because I am from London. Ryan Gosling grabbed me away from a taxi."

Once the rush of adrenaline passed, Penny continued with a few jokes about the incident.

"He did not say 'hey, girl.' He said 'hey, watch out!'" wrote Penny. "Identity of ... Ryan Gosling confirmed by girl near me, who said 'you lucky bitch.'"

This is not the first time Gosling has been applauded for his heroics.

Last August, Gosling was caught on camera breaking up a street fight in the city. The fight had broken out when someone pinched a painting from a street artist and the artist chased him down. Gosling defused the tension, calming both parties down and offering the artist $20 for his work.
