Lindsay Lohan reportedly being kept out of Canada because of criminal record

Lindsay Lohan was scheduled to appear at the Toronto Film Festival on Sunday, but the plan was abruptly canceled — and rumors quickly spread the troubled starlet was kept out of Canada because of her criminal record.

Lohan was meant to appear at nightclub Set on Sunday at a party promoting her upcoming psychological thriller “Inconceivable.” But an organizer of the event informed Page Six on Thursday that the appearance was canceled almost at the last minute because “the timing did not work out for everyone to get to Toronto.”

Festival insiders speculated the snafu was because Lohan can’t enter Canada due to her past skirmishes with the law. “Canada is pretty strict about that,” said a source. “It is not easy to get in if you have had any type of record.”

Other sources said Lohan refused to travel to Toronto unless she was flown first class from Europe, and the movie budget couldn’t accommodate that.

A rep for the film’s producers, Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films, said, “I just know she was not able to come [to Canada],” but added the issue was that everyone was “busy.”

Lohan has had several run-ins with the law. In 2007 she pleaded guilty to drunk driving and misdemeanor cocaine use. Lohan has also had issues violating her probation.

Canada immigration guidelines say “There are many reasons we may not let you into Canada,” such as, “You are a security risk,” “You have been convicted of a crime, or you have committed an act outside Canada that would be a crime,” and, “If you have been convicted of driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, you will probably be found criminally inadmissible in Canada.”

The actress’s rep could not be reached for comment.
