The Fox News Channel will develop a one-hour weekend primetime show with host Greg Gutfeld, the network announced on Friday.

Gutfeld will transition off the late-night show “Red Eye,” but, in addition to his new role, will continue to serve as co-host of “The Five” and make weekly appearances on “The O’Reilly Factor.” The new program will focus on Gutfeld’s libertarian values and social commentary, the network stated.

“We are confident that Gutfeld’s distinct perspective and knack for humor will start a valuable dialogue and be a refreshing addition to the weekend line-up,” said Bill Shine, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming for the network.

During Gutfeld’s transition, a variety of rotating guest hosts will substitute host “Red Eye.” The host is set to address his departure from “Red Eye” during Friday’s episode.
