MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – The future of an air show in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle is uncertain following a fatal airplane crash during a performance in September.
Media outlets report that organizers of Thunder Over the Blue Ridge discussed the air show at a news conference Tuesday in Martinsburg.
Board of Directors president Brian Truman says the board must consider the crash, budget concerns and other issues before it decides whether to hold the air show in 2012. He says the National Guard base that hosts the show is facing budget cuts. Board members hope to make the decision by the end of the year.
Pilot John "Jack" Mangan of Concord, N.C., was performing with the T-28 Warbird Aerobatic Formation Demonstration Team on Sept. 17 when his plane crashed and burst into flames.
