The lockdown at Santa Monica College has been lifted after authorities determined that reports of a gunman on the Southern California campus were a hoax.

Earlier, College spokesman Bruce Smith said calls came in around 11 a.m. Tuesday saying there was an armed person on campus.

School is not in session but teachers and some incoming freshmen are on the college grounds.
Police have not verified the calls or determined if any shots have been fired.
