A Marine veteran who carried his personal digital camera with him throughout the Iraq war is making a documentary he hopes will open viewers eyes about combat -- and help him and his fellow fighters heal.

Garrett Anderson's film, "And Then They Came Home," will focus on Nov. 22, 2004, a particularly brutal day of fighting during the second battle of Fallujah.

On that day, one member of Anderson's platoon was killed and six others wounded.

Most of his fellow Marines had their own cameras with them and filmed things as they happened.

Along with that footage, he'll use interviews he plans to record this summer to show how each Marine remembers the day and how each deals with the memories.

He hopes to have the film finished this fall.
