LAUREL, Md. – Rescue crews and surgeons in Maryland were working Tuesday to free a man whose legs were caught in machinery at a mulch plant.
The man, who was not identified, became entangled in a machine that injects colored dye into mulch shortly before 11:00a.m. ET at Grant County Mulch in Laurel, The Washington Post reported.
Prince George's County EMS spokesman Mark Brady said the man is critically injured.
"This is a life-or-death situation," he said.
A special surgical rescue team from a local trauma center was called to the scene to assist in efforts to free the man, according to the paper
