House Judiciary Committee approves subpoena for BP documents on claims payments

WASHINGTON – WASHINGTON (AP) — BP will receive a subpoena for documents on its payment of claims from the Gulf oil spill.

The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday unanimously voted for the subpoena, which is designed to make public the payments BP is making and the procedures it is following.

The committee on Wednesday also voted to end outdated liability limitations that protected owners of maritime vessels. This bill was sent to the full House.
