NEW ALBANY, Miss. – Police were searching Tuesday for a gunman who opened fire at the home of a Mississippi high school football coach, killing the coach's wife and wounding the coach, WTVA-TV reported.
Amanda Price was fatally shot as she took the couple's dog out onto the back porch of their home at around 10:00pm local time Monday in New Albany, Miss., approximately 80 miles southeast of Memphis, Tenn. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Ron Price, the head football coach at New Albany High School, was shot when he stepped outside after hearing gunfire. He underwent surgery at a hospital in Tupelo, Miss., and is expected to recover.
The attack occurred just after the couple returned home. Their three-year-old daughter was in the house but was not harmed.
Amanda Price's body will reportedly be sent to Jackson, Miss., for an autopsy. She was a speech pathologist at New Albany High School.
Police said they have no suspects and at this point believe it was a random shooting.
