MILLBRAE, Calif. – A Californian woman has been picked up by police after trying to sell a $1,400 purse back to the person it was stolen off -- her next-door neighbor.
The victim found the purse being offered for sale on the internet soon after it, and a pair of shoes, were taken from the doorstep of her apartment building in San Jose, the San Mateo County Times reported Monday.
She arranged to meet the seller in the city of Millbrae and called police.
Elizabeth Kidd, the victim's neighbor, was later arrested trying to sell the stolen goods -- telling police someone had given them to her.
The 36-year-old was booked into San Mateo County jail on suspicion of possessing stolen property.
