Boston police: Suspect in custody after shooting reported at Brigham and Women's hospital

BOSTON – Boston police say they have a suspect in custody after a person was shot at a hospital.

Police say the situation at Brigham and Women's Hospital is "under control." The hospital said in a statement Monday that the shooting took place in its Shapiro building, a cardiovascular care and research center.

It said the Shapiro center had been locked down, and staff were asked to remain in place. There was no immediate information about the victim.

Massachusetts State Police said they were assisting Boston police, who are the primary investigators. The department said there are road closures in the area and drivers should expect delays and detours.
