Airline worker accused of stealing cash from passenger's wallet at Newark airport checkpoint

NEWARK, N.J. – An airline worker has been accused of stealing cash from a passenger's wallet at a security checkpoint at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police say a passenger discovered his wallet was missing $576 after he retrieved it from security screening in Terminal C on Monday morning.

Police reviewed surveillance footage. A 52-year-old United Airlines ramp worker was charged with theft.

The money was returned to the passenger, who resumed his travel plans.
