4 shot dead in South Carolina homes, incl. gunman

LIBERTY, S.C. – Four people have been found shot to death at two neighboring homes in South Carolina and investigators believe the gunman is among the dead.

Assistant Sheriff Tim Morgan told reporters at the scene it appeared one man shot the other three before killing himself Friday morning in Liberty, in an area of mixed farms and suburban homes in the state's west.

Deputies were called around 6:30 a.m. by a woman who said her son might have killed himself.

There was no word on the names of the victims.

Morgan did not immediately return messages left by The Associated Press on Friday morning.
