Udine, Italy – An Emanuele Calaio own goal proved to be the difference on Tuesday as Udinese claimed a 1-0 victory over Genoa at the Stadio Friuli.
Both teams found quality scoring chances extremely hard to come by for the majority of the match as Udinese generated only three shots on target, while Geona put one shot on frame.
But it was a mistake in the 79th minute that turned the match in favor of Udinese as Calaio directed the ball into his own net. The visitors sent numbers forward over the final 11 minutes in search of the tying goal, but it never materialized and Udinese held on to claim three points.
Udinese rises to seventh place in Serie A on seven points, while Genoa remains in 13th place with four points.
