Jameer Nelson says he is staying with the Orlando Magic.

"Glad to say I've reached an agreement with the Magic," the guard tweeted on Thursday morning. "I'm blessed to have the best fans and a great organization supporting me!"

The announcement came just days after reports said Nelson opted out of his contract for next season, and amid continuing speculation about center Dwight Howard's future with the team.

Nelson, 30, has played all eight of his NBA seasons for the Magic. He averaged 11.9 points and 5.7 assists in 57 games this past season, both near his career numbers.

The former Naismith Award winner was selected in the first round of the 2004 draft out of Saint Joseph's.

NBA teams can't begin signing free agents until July 11.
