The Florida Marlins selected the contract of Jose A New Orleans on Sunday.

Lopez batted .400 with nine home runs and 30 RBI in 32 games with the Zephyrs.

The Marlins signed Lopez, an American League All-Star with the Seattle Mariners in 2006, to a minor league contract in June after the 27-year-old was released by the Colorado Rockies.

Lopez is hitting just .188 in the majors this season.

Martinez batted .150 (3-for-20) in 18 games with Florida earlier this year.

Following Saturday's game, the Marlins optioned outfielder Logan Morrison to New Orleans and released infielder Wes Helms.
