Commerce City, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Colorado Rapids sent midfielder Hendry Thomas to FC Dallas on Wednesday in exchange for allocation money.
Thomas joined the Rapids during the 2012 campaign and started the final eight games of the season for the club before making 27 starts and notching two goals with one assist last term.
The Honduras international began his playing career with Olimpia in the Honduran first division in 2001, while he also made 49 appearances for Wigan in the English Premiership prior to joining the Rapids.
"The allocation money that we've gotten in this deal will give us flexibility to continue adding strength and depth to our squad," said Rapids technical director Paul Bravo. "We had negotiated with Hendry during the offseason but ultimately we decided to move in other directions, so we're glad to get value in return at this point. He was an important part of our team over the last two years, and we want to thank him for his professionalism and contributions to our club."
Colorado also signed a pair of players on Wednesday with goalkeeper Joe Nasco joining the club from the Atlanta Silverbacks in the NASL, while midfielder Jared Watts was signed after being selected with the 33rd overall pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft.
