Simon Cowell says he dealt with harassment situations, people get what they deserve

Simon Cowell has claimed he was “put in situations” when he was starting out in the music industry.

The music mogul made the comment as he was quizzed about whether the recent sexual misconduct scandals in Hollywood would lead to change in the entertainment industry.

Speaking as he attended the Music Industry Trusts Award in aid of charities Nordoff Robbins and Brit Trust at the Grosvenor House Hotel, he said he hoped it would make a difference and admitted he believed those involved would “get what they deserve.”

He said: “Well, I do [think there will be change] actually, to be honest with you. Look, I have grown up in the music business. Even as a kid I was put in situations when I was first working — you know, it’s not a very nice business. But people get what they deserve. That’s all I’m going to say.”

His comments are in light of the recent sexual misconduct scandal involving Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, which has led to other predators being exposed.

Weinstein is the subject of a string of sexual harassment claims dating back decades.

Meanwhile, Cowell’s red carpet appearance marked his first since his horrific fall, which saw him rushed to hospital, forcing him to miss the first week of “X Factor” live shows.

Dressed in his usual black suit and white shirt, Cowell grinned as he posed away with various guests — showing no sign of his previous injuries.

In the early hours of last Friday, the “X Factor” boss fell down stairs in his London home after fainting as he went to fetch some milk.

Cowell returned to the “X Factor” this weekend are doctor advised him to rest at home.

The effects of the last week were visible to see during the shows, as some bruising could be made out on Cowell’s neck near his facial hair.

A source revealed he felt well enough to get back to business, telling The Sun: “He’s feeling much better now. He didn’t want to race back and hinder his recovery – especially given doctor’s orders. He’s already started working with his acts and has met up with them all to prepare for the weekend’s performances. Everyone knows how much of a workaholic Simon is so he’s obviously gagging to get back into the swing of things.”

Meanwhile, Cowell was joined by Harry Styles, who performed at the bash, which say Sony Music Entertainment’s global CEO Rob Stringer win the prestigious Music Industry Trusts Award.

He was presented with the accolade by Nicky Wire of Manic Street Preachers — a band Stringer signed in 1991 as they were starting out.

Hosted by Jo Whiley, the event included performances from Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Ezra and Camila Cabello, all chart-topping artists who have worked with the executive during his career.

Guests watched a tribute video celebrating Stringer, with personal messages from music heavyweights like Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, Adele, Celine Dion, John Legend, Pharrell, Solange and Sade.

Attendees also included Kirsty Young, Gary Kemp, Paloma Faith, Mark Ronson, The Script, Hozier and London Grammar.

In its 26 years, the award has raised millions for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and the Brit Trust.
