Kat Von D Blogs About Breaking Up With Jesse James, Flaking on Interview & Canceling Press Tour for New Season of “LA Ink”
Kat Von D is setting the record straight in her latest blog post on Facebook about why things ended with her ex-fiance Jesse James, storming out of the Good Day LA set and canceling her upcoming press tour for the new season of her show “LA Ink.”
"What have I done? I sure made a mess of things," Von D said as she began her Facebook post. “We are all master of our own reality and whatever is 'happening to me' is no one’s 'fault' other than my own.”
Von D said that James made her happy, but said that the outside world did not want to accept their relationship, making her feel at times that “it was just the two of us against the world.”
“In my relationship I never before felt as solid and strong -- even though the world said different by all the criticism,” said Von D, who dated James for two years.
“Lost a lot of friends, and even caused turmoil within some of my family members because of the bullshit the media put out there," she said. "Some fans even changed their perception of who they thought I was.”
The tattoo artist also touched on how she was glad she wasn’t going through this “4 years ago before I decided to get sober.”
“I would have easily been the world’s biggest train wreck,” said Von D. “Instead, dealing with all of it through acceptance of what is, and staying as present in the moment as possible, was the only way I was able to learn so much.”
As for walking away from her first interview after her split with Jesse James, Von D said she wasn’t going to apologize.
“My intentions were never to offend or hurt anyone’s feelings, this isn't an apology for walking out on a silly morning show interview this morning,” Von D wrote. “This isn’t an attempt at justifying anything either. I don't expect people to understand, just like I can't expect myself to be able to please everyone at all times.”
The “LA Ink” star says she’s not ready to deal with all the interviews and show appearances she “committed to doing” for the new season of the show.
“I admit I'm not strong enough to do all the press,” said Von D. “Even though it's not in my nature to cancel on people, it IS in my nature to admit when I'm weak.”
