Jennifer Lopez Wants To Return To ‘American Idol,’ Sources Said

According to conflicting reports, Jennifer Lopez wants to reclaim her judge’s seat on “American Idol.” Or does she?

After a source said Lopez indeed wanted to return to the talent competition show, a friend close to the star said that could not be further from the truth.

On Tuesday, Radar Online released a report claiming “J.LO’s manager, Benny Medina, was in talks with FOX even before Mariah and Nicki announced their departures last week.”

“Benny told FOX that she does indeed want to return. They’re talking. Negotiations are in their infant stages, but they’re underway to get her back to the judges table.”

However, according to one of the “Live It Up” singer’s confidants, negotiations for her return to idol are nonexistent.

A source told Gossip Cop, “no” discussions are currently taking place in regards to the 43-year-old returning to the show.

Last week, both Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey officially announced they were leaving “Idol.” Weeks before, Randy Jackson, the show's lone remaining original judge, said he was leaving as well.

That leaves country singer Keith Urban as the only judge left standing, though sources say it’s unlikely he will stick around next season.

News of Lopez’s possible return to “Idol” began toward the end of this season when The Hollywood Reporter released the “bombshell scoop” that the show’s producers were so concerned with plunging ratings that they devised a plot to get JLO back.

However, a Fox spokesman said the report was “just another ridiculous 'Idol' judge rumor, likely started by talks of Jennifer performing on the finale."

Since Lopez’s departure from the show, "Idol” has been struggling with ratings.

While they have been on a decline for the past few seasons, last week’s ratings showed that “Idol” was losing momentum to rival singing competition show “The Voice.”
