Brazilian searchers are looking for 23 people still listed as missing following the burst of two dams at an iron ore mine in a southeastern mountainous area.

The local fire department lowered the official death toll to one person Saturday. They say a body found Friday some 100 kilometers (62 miles) away that they previously said was a victim now cannot be confirmed as having died in the Thursday accident.

Fire officials say the official number of missing stands at 23. Thirteen of those were workers from the mine and 10 residents of a small village that was overrun by mud and water unleashed by the bursting of the two dams.
