Ohio mom accused of decapitating her baby daughter pleads not guilty; bail jumps to $5 million

An Ohio woman accused of decapitating her 3-month-old daughter has pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated murder.

A court official says 20-year-old Deasia (dee-AY'-shuh) Watkins was arraigned Thursday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court in Cincinnati. Her attorney entered the plea for her.

Judge Charles Kubicki (koo-BIHK-ee) ordered that Watkins be transferred to the Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare facility in Columbus for a psychological evaluation. He also increased Watkins' bail from $500,000 to $5 million.

Watkins was arrested last week after her daughter, Jayniah, was found decapitated and stabbed multiple times on a kitchen counter in the Cincinnati home of an aunt who was caring for her. Prosecutors say they won't seek the death penalty.
