Police in San Diego County say a man shot to death his two teenage sons before setting their home on fire and committing suicide.

Firefighters discovered the bodies in the burning home in Chula Vista shortly after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say the man's body was found in a hallway and two boys were found in separate bedrooms. All had been shot.

Lt. Lon Turner tells the San Diego Union-Tribune that the boys were 13 and 15 years old.

A neighbor says their mother didn't live at the home.

A police statement says detectives found notes mentioning murder, suicide and an intentionally set fire.

There's no word on a motive.
