MOORESTOWN, N.J. – A New Jersey library whose Latin motto got lost in translation is getting a new one.
The Courier-Post reports (http://on.cpsj.com/1KGht6n ) that a middle schooler has won a contest to create the new motto with "Scientia Incipit Hic," or "Knowledge Begins Here."
The board of trustees and the town hall architect picked the offering from 11-year-old Moorestown Friends Middle School student Lauren Articolo from 65 entrants.
The motto is being changed after officials became aware of a dispute over the current phrase.
Officials believed "Nos Secundus Coniecto Omnia" meant "We Confirm All Things Twice," but it could also mean "We Second-Guess All."
Officials also plan to change incorrect Roman numerals reflecting the library's founding date from 1653 to 1853.
