CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A large fire burned through the historic Hitching Post hotel Wednesday in Wyoming's capital of Cheyenne.
Fire division chief John Fox says flames up to 20 feet high burned through the roof of the building.
He says the whole front part of the sprawling hotel and conference center was scorched.
The Hitching Post has been closed for a year amid financial trouble but was being remodeled and was due to reopen within weeks.
For decades, the hotel was a second home for much of the Wyoming Legislature during the annual legislative session.
No injuries were reported.
Fox says the cause wasn't immediately apparent but will be investigated.
