DES MOINES, Iowa – A Des Moines woman says that when she stepped into her shower to help ease the discomfort of stomach pains, she never expected to emerge with a newborn.
The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/1EkA7hT ) that Brittany Young decided to shower Wednesday when she suffered recurring stomach pains. Within minutes, she had given birth to a healthy 6-pound, 8-ounce girl.
Young says she was in shock, and then yelled for a friend to call an ambulance.
She knew she was pregnant, but thought she had about six more months to go.
She now thinks she misunderstood a hospital worker and believed she was 12 weeks into a pregnancy instead of having 12 weeks of pregnancy left.
