An American Airlines official says a tow vehicle on the ground hit the nose of a parked jet at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport over the weekend, but no passengers were hurt.

Spokesman Kent Powell says 119 passengers on American Flight 140 to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport were put on other flights after the Sunday afternoon incident.

Powell says the five-person crew was on the jet during boarding for the flight to Texas when the ground crew was hooking a tow bar to the front gear. He says investigators are trying to determine why the vehicle hit the landing gear and nose cone containing radar equipment.

No damage estimate was released. The MD-80 was removed from service.

Powell says a contract worker was treated for a minor knee injury.
